I love this image…It really sums it up. We are FILLED with excuses regarding exercise. As a Personal Trainer and Instructor I see the excuses snowball this time of year as we enter the Holiday Season. We are stressed, we can’t sleep, too many parties, holiday shopping. Blah, blah, blah….This is the time where many of us decide to “throw in the towel”, let stress, alcohol, caffeine and high-fat foods take over our lives and say that we will “start over next year”. Well people…next year is still about 45 days away and LOTS of damage can be done in those 45 days. Do not let this happen to you.
Let’s be realistic…maybe the Holiday Season is NOT a time to set yourself up for failure by saying you are going to lose 25 lbs over the next few months, when you know darn well that you have a ton of parties and dinners and a crazy schedule. However, we can make a pact with ourselves to not GAIN weight and to start implementing a few new healthy habits. Here are a few feasible, realistic habits that you may want to try from now until the end of the year. They could make a huge difference in your health and happiness this Holiday Season:
- Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water per day (if you are 120 lbs, drink 60 oz of water per day)
- MOVE 5 days per week for at least 30 minutes. This could mean just going for a walk to clear your head of the stress of the day!
- Aim for ONE extra hour of sleep per night
